A lot of times when it comes to advertising you are trying to sell a specific product. Sometimes, however, you are simply trying to sell a brand. That’s the case of today’s viral campaign.
Volkswagen makes fun, fast cars. Sure, you could probably buy a cheaper car that could get you from point A to point B, but sometimes its the journey between the destinations that really makes the difference. That was the point that VW was trying to make with this viral stunt.
In order to convey the message that VW is outside the box, they took over part of a stairway in a busy subway station and converted it into a red slide. That’s it. They called it the Fast Lane, and encouraged people to have some fun.
Just watch people’s reactions in the video. Some people are just too busy and don’t even give it the time of day. But the most satisfying thing is seeing businessmen and women in their fancy clothes, going down a slide on their way to work. What a fantastic way to brighten someone’s day and link your brand to a good experience. Kudos.
