In order to promote the latest entry to the X-Men franchise, “X-Men: First Class,” Fox decided to try something a little different. On Memorial Day 2011 in California, people were surprised when they looked up in the sky and saw this:
In case you don’t know, that is the symbol for the X-Men, as well as the logo for the highly anticipated prequel.
Sure, unless you were a die-hard fan, you would have no idea what this giant X in the sky was about. But this kind of viral campaign isn’t to bring more general public awareness. The point of something like this is to increase excitement in the fans. Which this absolutely did.
