Snow Wars

Hollywood, if you haven’t noticed, likes to follow trends. If people react positively to a certain genre or story telling type, Hollywood greenlights a ton of movies in the same field as the successful one. That is why there are so many superhero movies being made right now – superhero movies make money. I don’t know how much longer that will last, but I’m hopeful that it will last for a while.

It seems that the future trend might be revisions of classic fairy tales, especially because there are two versions of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves that will hit theaters next year. The first, called “Mirror, Mirror,” stars Julia Roberts, Nathan Lane, and Lily Collins, and it hits theaters March 16, 2012. The second, called “Snow White and the Huntsman,” starts Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, and hits theaters on June 1, 2012. Take a look at both trailers below:

One of those movies looks fantastic, and the other looks absolutely ridiculous. I’ll let you decide which is which. I just think it is so fascinating that with the right talent both in front of the camera and behind it, the same story can look completely different.

Also, if you are interested in this fairy tale craze, check out the interesting TV show “Once Upon A Time.” It’s pretty corny, but it is also very addicting.
